Models
We had a surprise model today! If you think the before is cute, you should have seen the after. Her name is Sophia. Did we get a model release for her?

Photographers
Adam and Abner...great job today. We really appreciate you volunteering your time to come out and help us with the photography. The photographer mentioned several times how much he appreciated your help.
Photo Shoot
Had a great photo shoot today. This was our 2nd annual salon photo shoot which we decided to stage at the Hickory St Annex, close to Deep Ellum in Dallas. http://www.hickorystreetannex.com/ As I mentioned earlier, we held a contest to see who would be our primary stylist for the shoot. Robert Herrera, Michelle Molina, Ashley Pirtle and Whitney Martin won those spots but everyone who showed up today had an opportunity to do hair. In addition to Robert, Michelle, Ashley(Ashton) and Whitney - Tiffany Mueller and Kelly Crandall helped apply color, and even had an opportunity to do a style or two that was photographed. Jessika Mathews dressed the girls. Leslie Sowell helped with the hair and assisted the makeup artist with the faces. Sheri Long helped with the hair and the photographer. Tracey Tarbet, our Operations/Education Director for Loxx, our new concept, also came to assist with color application and to help where needed. Erin Joseph, project director made sure that the doors were opened, fed and watered all of us and just generally helped where needed. Great Job .....Everyone! Thanks also to Joanna Hathcock, our makeup artist. joanna@joannahathcock.com

Photo Shoot
Getting ready for our photo shoot which takes place tomorrow, as well as taking care of business at the salon today. Very busy. Extremely excited about our 2nd annual in-salon photo shoot with our editor and publisher. Everything seems to be coming together except for the clothing. Last year the Cache store in Southlake allowed our models to be photographed in their clothing in exchange for credits. Absolutely stunning clothes which made our models look fantastic. This year we had asked them in advance and they agreed. This afternoon the new management at Cache seems to have a change of mind and have called us at the absolute last minute and indicated that unless we jumped through hoops and put up huge security deposit then they really weren't comfortable with doing what they had already agreed to do. So.....I'm sure it is going to be just fine. After all, unless there is a hurdle you might not realize that you're in the race.

Another Publication
We just received our advance copy of Sophisticate's HairStyle Guide, September '08 edition. Mouton's Salon has two models featured in the "at home styling guide", on pages 124, 125. The text that goes with the model on page 124, talks about the color of the models hair but the photo is in sepia tones. I am including a color photo of both models that are featured in the spread. Check it out!

The Color Orange
While in Milan for the photo shoot, we took a day trip to Florence to visit the Ufizi Gallery and to see what was hot in fashion on the streets. http://www.uffizi.com/ ORANGE, ORANGE, ORANGE
On our last trip to Italy in November of '05, we noticed people wearing the color orange everywhere we went. I was so struck with the color that I even bought an orange pair of pants which is quite a stretch for me since I wear a combination of black, white, blue typically. This year, not only are people wearing orange, the color is being used in store displays as well as furniture and accessories. We even saw a wine/champagne bar that was completely orange. It even used the fruit as a prop outside the on the sidewalk. I've not seen a lot of orange here in the States yet and I'm really not sure if we will. It seems to be something that fits the Euro model much better. We did notice that the color purple, in all shades - from a lavender to a deep purple seemed to be cropping up in store displays and shirts, both men and women.

Milan Photo Shoot
Later in May, Teresa and Bruce traveled to Milan, Italy to participate in another photo shoot with JL Global Media. On the day of the shoot we paired with Xena Parsons of Xena's Beauty Company in the West Village in NYC. http://www.xenasbeautycompany.com/ We were hosted by a great salon in Milan, Gruppo In. This salon is located on the famous via Montenapoleone shopping street in Milan. http://www.gruppoin.com/ We shot at a really cool studio that Gruppo In uses as a training studio for their interns. Teresa did some of her best work at this photo shoot. We were able to capture some great shots. In addition to shooting in the studio, we shot outside in front of the world famous Teatro La Scala. Here are few shots of Teresa in action and some of the beautiful results. All of the clothing was furnished and fitted by Orietta Bruno, a fashion designer who happens to be a customer of Gruppo In. http://www.oriettabruno.it/
As it happened, that day was also Teresa's birthday, so in typical Italian style the family that owns Gruppo In, threw a quick little party together to help celebrate Teresa's special day. One of the other members of JL Global Media, Khalil Davari from Germany is originally from Turkey. http://www.excellent-hair.com/ Between Khalil, Betty, the makeup artist who is originally from Ethiopia, Franz, our publisher who is Dutch, our editor Rainer who is German and the Italians, Teresa heard the "Happy Birthday" song sung in 5 different languages. Very cool.

Magazine Spread
We are featured in "Hairdo Ideas" Hair Style Guide, August 2008 issue. On page 38 of this issue, you will see that we have been labeled a ..."hair and beauty Mecca." Included in this two page spread are pictures from our November 2007 shoot in Paris and our July 2007 shoot at the salon in Grapevine, Texas.

New York Photo Shoot
In May, Teresa and Bruce traveled to NewYork in order for Teresa to participate in a photo shoot with JLGlobal Media. It was the first time that the entire JLGlobal Media Group had gotten together to produce a "collection." After several years of shoots that included doing your models, and trying to produce your specific looks, it was refreshing to get together to create an entire collection based upon a collective view. We really enjoyed this new experience.
